Today Our Lady of the Assumption School started their very own Science Club! This is going to run each week for either Year 1-4 or Year 5-8 students and is aimed at developing our children's love for Science. Today the children had to use a straw, string, tape and balloon to make a balloon rocket and investigate a variety of conditions in order for their 'rocket' to go faster. There were some great rockets!
Year 6 Cycle Safety
During the final week of Term 1, Christchurch City Council ran the Cycle Safety programme with our Year 6 students. The children learnt the correct hand signals and behaviours when cycling on our busy roads. All the children learnt so much and have a wonderful time cycling, first within our school grounds, and then on the roads around our area. Thank you CCC!!
Batten Team Caritas Challenge Day
Today the Batten Team participated in a Caritas Challenge Day in order to raise funds for South Sudan. Their challenge was to make shelters similar to those lived in by the South Sudanese people. They also had a small amount of rice for their lunch to re-enact what is eaten by people in this country. They also managed to raise money for Caritas by collecting donations - well done Batten Team!
